Position Description:

The applicant will be responsible for analyzing, planning, implementing, and managing geographical information system projects, database models and data. The applicant will also be assisting in the production of Insight Services deliverables to current clients and responding to subsequent requests as necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with TWI staff and president to understand client requirements, help formulate appropriate GIS solutions and assist with management of multiple projects
• Conduct data analysis, map creation and general data processing and maintenance
Program basic productivity tools and scripts using VB, ArcObjects, .NET, Python, etc.
• Gather end-user requirements, analyze and translate into technical requirements for a GIS application/deliverable
• Research data resources and provide recommendations for best practice
• Work independently, with minimal supervision, exercise good judgment and decision making skills
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and other TWI employees

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
• A minimum of two years of experience with ArcGIS Desktop
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Access and Excel
• B.S. in GIS, geography, computer science or other related field
• Working knowledge of data systems, networks, hardware and software as related to GIS, geo-database theory, function and management
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Experience with basic database design and associated methods and technologies
• Demonstrated aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail
• Considerable knowledge and experience of cartographic principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• General knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking
• Must have a valid drivers license and reliable means of transportation for travel to meetings with clients

Recommended Qualifications:
• M.S. in Geographic Information Science / Systems
• GIS Certification
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
• Programming and scripting experience (VB, ArcObjects, .NET, Java, Python, etc.)
• Experience with ArcGIS Server web applications or other web application development
